Richard Wilson and Tom Dowding set up Mobile Pie, an award winning mobile content development studio in 2008 to create entertainment and games for mobile devices. Based at the Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol, they work closely on research projects with HP Labs and educational projects with Futurelab. Their games are simple but addictive; their mobile virals deliver messages right into the palm of your hands and their mobile applications are useful giving up to date information on venues and events around town. They collaborated with Simon Games to produce the much talked about Moosehunt for 2008’s Igfest. But it’s not all fun and games as the Futurelab Shoutbox project proves. The application helps young people recognise their information learning outside of school and was shown at a BECTA event promoting the innovative use of technology in education. Mobile Pie are at the cutting edge of mobile technology and are definitely ones to watch.
